Broken capillaries (also known as spider veins) are dilated or enlarged blood vessels just beneath the surface of the skin, usually showing up as red spots on our cheeks, chin, and nose area. We have delicate veins under the skin that are responsible for circulation within the face, which can sometimes break, causing visible red broken capillaries. Your environment, genetics, hormones, trauma, medical conditions, aging, and skin type can all contribute to broken capillaries.
